Speech Therapy
WeeTalk’s Speech Therapists provide supports to maximize your child’s ability to communicate and/or eat/swallow effectively and to enhance your family’s capacity to support your child’s development in everyday routines.

- Engaging in social play and early games
- Taking turns with expression
- Learning by imitating
- Using gestures to communicate
- Combining sounds or producing certain combinations of sounds
- Using words to label favorite items and people
- Following simple directions
- Answering simple questions
Seek Early Intervention if
By 9 months your child is not:
- Responding to sounds/noises/name
- Smiling at people
- Cooing, babbling, or making sounds
- Laughing or squealing with familiar adults
- Interested in or recognizing familiar faces
- Interested in peek a boo type games
- Looking where YOU point
- Making eye contact
- Searching for items you hide
- Using single words to label objects or people
- Waving, clapping, or shaking head
- Pointing to objects
- Understanding how to use familiar items (brush, cup, shoe)
- Upset when loved one leaves
- Copying others
- Learning new skills rapidly
- Understanding action words (“come”, “stop”, “sit”)
- Using at least 2-word phrases
- Using at least 200 words
- Following simple directions (“come here”, “give me”, “go get”)
- Imitating actions or words
- Interested in other children
*Anytime you notice regression or loss of skills, contact your child’s pediatrician, and reach out to WeeTalk to start a referral to Early Intervention immediately.
